Your tour starts by meeting our local guide in the Freycinet Lodge for an introduction and briefing. Maps of the Freycinet Peninsula will be enthusiastically unfolded and your path ahead for the day traced, before packing bags and setting off on foot towards Honeymoon Bay.
With an early start to beat the crowds, we begin our day’s walk along Freycinet’s most popular trail to the Wineglass Bay viewing platform. At the end of this 45 minute gradual climb, you will be rewarded with a picture perfect view of stunning Wineglass Bay. From this elevated perspective of the Peninsula sitting to the south, your guide will point out the route ahead into the less frequented corners of the National Park.
After a short descent, the eucalypt trees open to expose the magical destination that is Wineglass Bay. Kick off your shoes and feel the squeaky white sand beneath your toes, while your guide brews a cuppa perched on the red lichen topped rocks unique to this coast. A morning tea picnic location one can only dream of.
After soaking in one of Australia’s most famed beaches, we journey across the peninsula to Hazard’s Beach. Less visited but by no means less impressive, we continue the journey south along this stunning stretch of empty beach. Leaving only our footprints, you’ll learn of the furry, feathered and scaled creatures that call this special place home and the history behind it’s gorgeous shores and red granite peaks.
